I reside in the San Francisco Bay Area where I established the Shambhala Sound Space, the headquarters for the Vox Mundi School an inviting environment devoted to presenting master classes, adventurous experimental concerts, and digital media explorations, drawing a creative community of sound practitioners and musicians.

Voice of the Worlds

Vox Mundi, founded in 1988 in Italy by Grammy-nominated composer, interdisciplinary scholar, and vocal artist Silvia Nakkach, remains the only organization of its kind, supporting transcultural and integrative education through music with an international faculty of celebrated musicians, wisdom teachers, shamans, and artists, with the aspiration of revitalizing chanting as a transformative and healing art worldwide.

Is dedicated to Teaching, performing, and preserving Indigenous, classical, and sacred musical traditions. Combining transcultural music, sound design, and vocal arts with an emphasis on service and spiritual practice promoting the classical music of North India, particularly the Dhrupad art form, through teaching, mentoring, and training at all levels.

“Silvia masterfully frees my voice...” In my 12 years of exploring the voice with Silvia, I have never been in the same class twice. Silvia masterfully frees my voice, and anyone who will devote themselves to attaining that freedom will be given wings to soar. Much like those connect-the-dots drawings we loved as children each raga, each vocal meditation, mantra, or medicine melody offered by Silvia connects new dots within us until our voices become living poetry and we disappear in sound.

“We will never be the same.” Since my workshop with Silvia Nakkach, the only way I can articulate is by breaking apart layers of sediment, stirring them, and dissolving them. The deepest in-between spaces are getting loosened up and being molecularly reorganized in the way of shamanic work, and we will never be the same.

“... Opened up an area of exploration that I hadn’t explored previously...” It was a very vocally freeing course for me. The integration of Indigenous vocal practices into my own voice practice opened up an area of exploration that I hadn’t explored previously, and it was both engaging and intriguing. I saw the value in these methods and am interested in learning more!
